Food Processing Industry Initiatives to Boost Rural Economy

Key Schemes: The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is implementing three major schemes to strengthen the food processing infrastructure and boost the rural economy:
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY)
Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI)
Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme
Projects Sanctioned (as of June 30, 2025):
PMKSY: 1,134 projects, including 41 mega food parks and 395 cold chain projects.
PMFME: Over 1.4 lakh (144,517) proposals.
PLISFPI: 170 proposals.
Initiatives in Kushinagar:
Kushinagar, in Uttar Pradesh, has been identified as a banana cluster.
261 proposals under the PMFME scheme have been approved for the district.
Banana has also been designated as a "One District One Product (ODOP)" under the PMFME scheme for Kushinagar.
Ministry's Objectives:
Reduce post-harvest losses and develop value-added products.
Increase processing and preservation capacities.
Provide employment opportunities in rural areas.
Promote entrepreneurship and skill development.
Help farmers get better prices for their produce.
Investment and Global Platforms:
PLISFPI: With an outlay of ₹10,900 crore, this scheme aims to create global food manufacturing champions and promote Indian food brands internationally.
World Food India (WFI): The ministry has organized three editions of WFI in 2017, 2023, and 2024 to promote investment and trade opportunities in the food sector

ग्रामीण अर्थव्यवस्था को बढ़ावा देने के लिए खाद्य प्रसंस्करण उद्योग मंत्रालय की पहल
प्रमुख योजनाएँ: ग्रामीण अर्थव्यवस्था और खाद्य प्रसंस्करण बुनियादी ढांचे को मजबूत करने के लिए, खाद्य प्रसंस्करण उद्योग मंत्रालय (MoFPI) तीन प्रमुख योजनाओं को लागू कर रहा है:
प्रधानमंत्री किसान संपदा योजना (PMKSY)
खाद्य प्रसंस्करण उद्योग के लिए उत्पादन आधारित प्रोत्साहन योजना (PLISFPI)
प्रधानमंत्री सूक्ष्म खाद्य प्रसंस्करण उद्यम औपचारिकीकरण (PMFME) योजना
योजनाओं के तहत स्वीकृत परियोजनाएँ (30 जून 2025 तक):
PMKSY: 1134 परियोजनाएँ, जिनमें 41 मेगा फूड पार्क और 395 कोल्ड चेन परियोजनाएँ शामिल हैं।
PMFME: 1.4 लाख (1,44,517) से अधिक प्रस्ताव।
PLISFPI: 170 प्रस्ताव।
कुशीनगर में पहल:
उत्तर प्रदेश का कुशीनगर जिला "केला क्लस्टर" के रूप में चिह्नित है।
यहां PMFME योजना के तहत 261 परियोजनाओं को मंजूरी दी गई है।
केले को PMFME योजना के अंतर्गत "एक जिला एक उत्पाद (ODOP)" के रूप में भी चुना गया है।
मंत्रालय के उद्देश्य:
फसल कटाई के बाद होने वाले नुकसान को कम करना।
मूल्यवर्धित उत्पादों को विकसित करना।
ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में रोजगार के अवसर प्रदान करना।
उद्यमिता और कौशल विकास को बढ़ावा देना।
किसानों की उपज का बेहतर मूल्य सुनिश्चित करना।
निवेश और वैश्विक मंच:
PLISFPI योजना: ₹10,900 करोड़ के परिव्यय के साथ, यह योजना वैश्विक खाद्य निर्माण चैंपियनों को बनाने और भारतीय खाद्य ब्रांडों को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बाज़ार में बढ़ावा देने पर केंद्रित है।
विश्व खाद्य भारत (WFI): मंत्रालय ने खाद्य क्षेत्र में निवेश और व्यापार को बढ़ावा देने के लिए 2017, 2023 और 2024 में विश्व खाद्य भारत (WFI) के तीन संस्करणों का आयोजन किया।
