First visit of UNAVFOR ships to India / यूनावफॉर जहाजों की पहली भारत यात्रा

India-EU Naval Cooperation
Background: Spanish and Italian naval ships, ESPS Reina Sofia and ITS Antonio Marseglia, under the aegis of the European Union, visited Mumbai from 26 May to 1 June 2025.
Key Meetings and Discussions:
The main theme of the discussion was to enhance maritime cooperation. Both sides agreed on the need for expanded cooperation in the military field.
Joint Exercises and Activities:
While in port, the two navies conducted activities such as Exchange of Subject Matter Experts (SMEE) and Table Top Exercises (TTX).
These exercises helped in sharing experiences of anti-piracy and anti-smuggling operations.
After the departure of the ships, a joint exercise at sea was also conducted with Indian Naval ships and aircraft. It aims to enhance mutual interoperability and ability to deal with non-traditional threats.
Shared Interests and Objectives:
Both India and the European Union are committed to a rules-based maritime order.
The visit reflects shared interests in protecting legitimate trade and combating threats such as piracy, smuggling and illegal fishing.
These activities will further strengthen the growing multi-sectoral cooperation between India-EU.

भारत-यूरोपीय संघ नौसेना सहयोग
पृष्ठभूमि: यूरोपीय संघ के तत्वावधान में स्पेनिश और इतालवी नौसेना के जहाजों, ईएसपीएस रीना सोफिया और आईटीएस एंटोनियो मार्सेग्लिया, ने 26 मई से 1 जून 2025 तक मुंबई का दौरा किया। 
प्रमुख बैठकें और चर्चाएँ:
चर्चा का मुख्य विषय समुद्री सहयोग को बढ़ाना था। दोनों पक्ष सैन्य क्षेत्र में विस्तारित सहयोग की आवश्यकता पर सहमत हुए।
संयुक्त अभ्यास और गतिविधियाँ:
बंदरगाह में रहते हुए, दोनों नौसेनाओं ने विषय-वस्तु विशेषज्ञों का आदान-प्रदान (SMEE) और टेबल टॉप अभ्यास (TTX) जैसी गतिविधियाँ आयोजित कीं।
इन अभ्यासों से समुद्री डकैती और तस्करी विरोधी अभियानों के अनुभवों को साझा करने में मदद मिली।
जहाजों के प्रस्थान के बाद, भारतीय नौसेना के जहाजों और विमानों के साथ समुद्र में एक संयुक्त अभ्यास भी आयोजित किया गया। इसका उद्देश्य आपसी सहभागिता और गैर-पारंपरिक खतरों से निपटने की क्षमता बढ़ाना है।
साझा हित और उद्देश्य:
भारत और यूरोपीय संघ दोनों ही नियम-आधारित समुद्री व्यवस्था के प्रति प्रतिबद्ध हैं।
यह यात्रा वैध व्यापार की सुरक्षा, समुद्री डकैती, तस्करी और अवैध रूप से मछली पकड़ने जैसे खतरों का मुकाबला करने के साझा हितों को दर्शाती है।
ये गतिविधियाँ भारत-यूरोपीय संघ के बीच बढ़ते बहु-क्षेत्रीय सहयोग को और मजबूत करेंगी।
