आत्मनिर्भरता में बड़ी छलांग:
भारत ने मेडटेक विनिर्माण में उल्लेखनीय प्रगति की है।
घरेलू हिस्सेदारी पाँच वर्षों में 30% तक पहुँच गई है।
उच्च-स्तरीय उपकरणों में भी घरेलू हिस्सेदारी बढ़कर 20% हो गई है।
इंडिया मेडटेक एक्सपो 2025 की सफलता:
एक्सपो अत्यंत सफल रहा, जिसमें 30 देशों के हजारों प्रतिनिधियों ने भाग लिया।
विदेशी खरीदारों की रुचि अब उन्नत और इनवेसिव उपकरणों (क्लास C उत्पाद) में बढ़ी है, जो भारत की बढ़ती क्षमता को दर्शाता है।
भारत इन जटिल उपकरणों का निर्माण वैश्विक बाजार की तुलना में 10 से 40% कम लागत पर कर रहा है, जिससे निर्यात की अपार संभावनाएँ हैं।
क्षमता निर्माण और मानव संसाधन विकास:
मेडीटेक उद्योग के लिए क्षमता-निर्माण पहलकदमियाँ तेजी से आगे बढ़ रही हैं।
औषधि विभाग विभिन्न संस्थानों को सहयोग दे रहा है और अल्पकालिक तथा दीर्घकालिक पाठ्यक्रम शुरू हो चुके हैं।
इन कार्यक्रमों से प्रशिक्षित तकनीकी विशेषज्ञ एक-दो वर्षों में उद्योग को मजबूत करेंगे।
नियामक ढाँचे में सुधार:
भारत के चिकित्सा उपकरण नियमन ढाँचे में महत्वपूर्ण विकास हुआ है।
पिछले पाँच वर्षों में उपकरण निर्माताओं की संख्या लगभग 400 से बढ़कर 4000 से अधिक हो गई है, जो बेहतर नियामक प्रणाली का संकेत है।
जीवन प्रत्याशा बढ़ने के कारण बेहतर उपकरणों की मांग बढ़ रही है, जिसके लिए नैदानिक एवं गैर-नैदानिक डेटा की गुणवत्ता में सुधार की तत्काल आवश्यकता है।
वैश्विक सहयोग और निर्यात क्षमता:
अल्जीरिया ने चिकित्सा उपकरणों के लिए विनियामक सामंजस्य स्थापित करने हेतु भारत के साथ काम करने की इच्छा व्यक्त की है।
अल्जीरिया अपनी आवश्यकता का केवल 2% उपकरण ही बनाता है, जिससे भारतीय निर्माताओं के लिए यहाँ विशाल अवसर हैं।
वर्तमान में, विश्व की चिकित्सा उपकरण मांग का केवल 2% निर्यात भारत से होता है, इसलिए निर्यात को कई गुना बढ़ाने के लिए वैश्विक गुणवत्ता मानकों के अनुरूप परीक्षण और गुणवत्ता में सुधार पर ज़ोर दिया जा रहा है।

Key Highlights of India's MedTech Industry
The civil services department indicated that capacity-building initiatives for the MedTech industry are accelerating, with results expected soon. Algeria also expressed interest in working with India to establish regulatory harmonization for medical devices.

Significant Leap Towards Self-Reliance:
India has made notable progress in MedTech manufacturing.
Domestic share in manufacturing has reached 30% over five years.
This share has reached 20% even in the highly specialized, high-end equipment category.
Success of India MedTech Expo 2025:
The India MedTech Expo 2025 was extremely successful, attracting thousands of representatives from 30 countries.
The interest of foreign participants has shifted from non-invasive devices (Class A and B) to advanced and invasive devices (Class C products).
India is manufacturing these sophisticated Class C products at 10% to 40% lower cost than the global market, creating immense export potential.
Capacity Building and Regulatory Development:
Capacity-building programs are actively supported by the Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP) across various institutions, with short-term and long-term courses launched. Trained technical experts from these programs are expected to strengthen the industry in the next one to two years.
India's medical device regulatory framework has evolved significantly. The number of device manufacturers has grown from approximately 400 to over 4,000 in the last five years, indicating a better regulatory system.
Due to increasing life expectancy in India, there is a growing demand for better devices, emphasizing the urgent need to improve the volume and quality of clinical and non-clinical data.
Global Collaboration and Export Focus:
Algeria has expressed interest in collaborating with India on regulatory harmonization for medical devices. With Algeria only meeting 2% of its device needs domestically, there are vast opportunities for Indian manufacturers.
Currently, Indian exports meet only 2% of the world's medical device demand.
There is a strong emphasis on improving testing and quality to meet global standards and exponentially increase exports.
Event Details:
The Expo was organized by the DoP in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, EPCM D, and CDSCO.
It was held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from September 4 to 6, 2025.
The event featured over 500 Indian companies and more than 150 international buyers from 30 countries, solidifying India's position as a hub for precision-engineered, yet affordable, MedTech solutions.
