Jal Jeevan Mission: Har Ghar Jal 💧

The Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) is a flagship initiative of the Government of India, aiming to provide every rural household in the country with a tap water connection, ensuring a clean and adequate supply of drinking water by 2024.
Progress of the Mission
At the start (August 2019): Only 3.23 crore (16.7%) rural households had tap water connections.
Current Status (as of July 16, 2025):
Approximately 12.43 crore additional rural households have been provided with tap water connections.
A total of over 15.67 crore (80.93%) rural households now have tap water supply.
Implementation and Monitoring
Regular Review: The central government regularly reviews the mission's progress with state governments.
High-Level Meetings: Video conferences and workshops are held to ensure targets are met in a timely manner.
Field Visits: National Jal Jeevan Mission teams conduct field visits to guide the implementation in states.
Public Dashboard: The district and village-wise status of tap water connections is available on a public dashboard (https://ejalshakti.gov.in/jjmreport/JJMIndia.aspx).
Functionality Assessment 2022
The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation conducted a functionality assessment of the mission through an independent third-party agency.
Tap Connections: 86% of households were found to have tap connections.
Water Quantity: Of these, 85% were receiving an adequate quantity of water.
Regularity: 80% of households were receiving water regularly as per the scheduled supply.
Quality: 87% of households were receiving water as per prescribed quality standards.
Challenges and Solutions
Challenges: The mission faced increased costs of raw materials due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
Solutions: To address these challenges, guidelines were amended from June 21, 2022, to maintain the pace of implementation.

जल जीवन मिशन: हर घर जल 💧
जल जीवन मिशन (JJM) भारत सरकार की एक महत्वपूर्ण पहल है, जिसका उद्देश्य 2024 तक देश के हर ग्रामीण परिवार को नल जल कनेक्शन के माध्यम से स्वच्छ और पर्याप्त पेयजल उपलब्ध कराना है।
मिशन की प्रगति
शुरुआत में (अगस्त 2019): केवल 3.23 करोड़ (16.7%) ग्रामीण घरों में नल जल कनेक्शन थे।
वर्तमान स्थिति (16 जुलाई 2025 तक):
लगभग 12.43 करोड़ अतिरिक्त ग्रामीण घरों में नल कनेक्शन दिए गए हैं।
कुल 15.67 करोड़ (80.93%) ग्रामीण घरों में अब नल का पानी उपलब्ध है।
कार्यान्वयन और निगरानी
नियमित समीक्षा: केंद्र सरकार राज्यों के साथ मिलकर मिशन की प्रगति की नियमित रूप से समीक्षा करती है।
उच्च-स्तरीय बैठकें: लक्ष्यों को समय पर पूरा करने के लिए वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंस और कार्यशालाएं आयोजित की जाती हैं।
फील्ड विजिट: राष्ट्रीय जल जीवन मिशन की टीमें राज्यों का दौरा कर कार्यान्वयन का मार्गदर्शन करती हैं।
सार्वजनिक डैशबोर्ड: जिला और गांव-वार नल जल कनेक्शन की स्थिति एक सार्वजनिक डैशबोर्ड पर उपलब्ध है (https://ejalshakti.gov.in/jjmreport/JJMIndia.aspx)।
कार्यात्मकता मूल्यांकन 2022
पेयजल और स्वच्छता विभाग ने एक स्वतंत्र एजेंसी के माध्यम से मिशन की कार्यक्षमता का मूल्यांकन कराया।
नल कनेक्शन: 86% घरों में नल कनेक्शन पाए गए।
पानी की मात्रा: इनमें से 85% घरों को पर्याप्त मात्रा में पानी मिल रहा था।
नियमितता: 80% घरों को नियमित रूप से पानी मिल रहा था।
गुणवत्ता: 87% घरों को निर्धारित मानकों के अनुसार गुणवत्तापूर्ण पानी मिल रहा था।
चुनौतियाँ और समाधान
चुनौतियाँ: COVID-19 महामारी और रूस-यूक्रेन संकट के कारण कच्चे माल की लागत में वृद्धि हुई।
समाधान: इन चुनौतियों का सामना करने के लिए, 21 जून 2022 से मिशन के दिशानिर्देशों में संशोधन किए गए ताकि कार्यान्वयन की गति को बनाए रखा जा सके।
