Automating Crop Loss Assessment through Cropic

Croppic (Real-time Crop Observation and Image Collection), one of the technology initiatives under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), is a digital application to collect images of crop fields, track crop health, and identify damage caused by disasters. The Cropic app aims to collect geotagged crowdsourced images from farmers and field coordinators through smartphones. The time-series geotagged images are intended for crop verification of insured crops and crop damage assessment in the event of local disasters.
Croppic is envisaged to empower crop insurance stakeholders by providing a transparent, real-time, evidence-based system for crop monitoring and management, strengthen the effectiveness of crop insurance and disaster response, and ensure data-based policy decisions. However, there is no proposal under consideration to provide a public dashboard on Cropic data.
Additionally, a Krishi Rakshak Portal and Helpline (KRPH) has been launched with an all India toll-free number 14447 and linked to the database of insurance companies where farmers can register their complaints/issues. Timelines have also been set for resolving these complaints.

प्रधानमंत्री फसल बीमा योजना (PMFBY) के अंतर्गत प्रौद्योगिकी पहलों में से एक, क्रॉपिक (फसलों के वास्तविक समय अवलोकन और फोटो का संग्रह), फसल के खेतों की तस्वीरें एकत्र करने, फसलों के स्वास्थ्य का पता लगाने और आपदाओं से होने वाले नुकसान की पहचान करने हेतु एक डिजिटल एप्लिकेशन है। क्रॉपिक ऐप का उद्देश्य स्मार्टफोन के माध्यम से किसानों और क्षेत्र समन्वयकों से जियोटैग्ड क्राउडसोर्स्ड तस्वीरें एकत्र करना है। टाइम-सीरीज  जियोटैग्ड तस्वीरों का उद्देश्य बीमित फसलों के फसल सत्यापन और स्थानीय आपदाओं की स्थिति में फसल क्षति का आकलन करना है।
क्रॉपिक की परिकल्पना फसल बीमा स्टेकहोल्डर्स को फसलों की निगरानी और प्रबंधन के लिए एक पारदर्शी, वास्तविक समय, साक्ष्य-आधारित प्रणाली प्रदान करके सशक्त बनाने, फसल बीमा और आपदा प्रतिक्रिया की प्रभावशीलता को सुदृढ़ करने और डेटा-आधारित नीतिगत निर्णय सुनिश्चित करने के लिए की गई है। तथापि, क्रॉपिक डेटा पर सार्वजनिक डैशबोर्ड उपलब्ध कराने का कोई प्रस्ताव विचाराधीन नहीं है।
इसके अतिरिक्त, एक कृषि रक्षक पोर्टल और हेल्पलाइन (KRPH) शुरू की गई है, जिसका अखिल भारतीय टोल-फ्री नंबर 14447 है और इसे बीमा कंपनियों के डेटाबेस से जोड़ा गया है, जहाँ किसान अपनी शिकायतें/मुद्दे दर्ज करा सकते हैं। इन शिकायतों के समाधान के लिए समय-सीमा भी तय की गई है।
